On women & friendship…

A tumblr friend who I met for the first time in person yesterday tumbled me to this wonderful essay by Emily Rapp about womens’ friendships.

“…it’s possible to transcend the limits of your skin in a friendship. That a friend can take you out of the boxes you’ve made for yourself and burn them up. This kind of friendship is not a frivolous connection, a supplementary relationship to the ones we’re taught and told are primary – spouses, children, parents. It is love.”

She doesn’t say anything about internet friends, but the times, they are a’ changin’, and  magpie and Jenn and Cheri and D E and Dani and abigail89 and Sherri and sangue and Heather and Kate and withthepilot and oh, as I start counting, I’m rich, I hope this essay lights you up as well, loves.
